Slowly Opening up the Shy Box

Toni was the type of girl that is nice to everyone. No matter who they were or what they were she was nice to them. She talked to them and normally became friends with them. But because of her relationship with Anna she had a few people that judged her before getting to know Toni. Toni and girls as friends were very slim. She seemed more comfortable around the guys maybe that is because of her older brother and growing up with her dad well kinda. She didn't know but she did know that she always felt less conscience and less nervous around guys as she did with the girls.

Since the car accident where Toni's mom fell into a coma. Toni changed a lot. She used to think that tomorrow was just another day so what did it matter if she hurt someone or did something wrong today. But when her mom fell into the coma, Toni began to realize just how important each and every day was. So that is why she makes sure that she helps others and tries to at least make one person's day better. IF she could do that then that is the greatest ability then anything else.

She listened to Gio carefully. She smiled even more as she begin to hear that his stuttering was starting to lessing. Maybe he only stuttered because he was nervous. She felt a little bit of worry and regret sweep into her. She knew that those weren't her emotions. She looked into Gio's eyes which she had to admit were really nice. God., was she a sucker for a guy with nice eyes. She put a smile on her face as she squeezed his hand softly. "Don't be regretful for your emotions. Alright. Emotions are just something that you can't control. And honestly emotions are probably a person's most deepest secrets of all." She said softly hoping to get him to not feel bad. She knew that this was not his fault or anything she just had to learn to control the empathy.

Her smile faded some when she heard him say that he didn't think his power was awesome. She turned her body completely towards him. She grabbed both of his hands and looked him start into those aquamarine eyes. "Your power is extraordinary. You can learn to control your power or ability as I call it." She said as she wanted him to see that he is special in his own way. For a kid to feel like this must only mean that their parents were real jerks towards him or he never got to feel what it was like to be one of a kind and different and special and all those things that Toni felt every person should be able to feel.

"I haven't been able to control mine yet. At night I can't sleep half of the time because of all the emotions that escape from people that they have no conscience over. But to have an ability to go to a place any place no matter how far whenever you want when you learn how to control it." She said trying to make him see what is so great about his ability. His ability was something that can make him go escape to where ever he wanted to and probably was migraine headache free unlike hers. She hated her ability some times mostly at night but she also loved it. She got to feel what others are feeling. She already got to feel what it was like when two people to be so in love with each other or to get the feeling of just complete happiness like the day when a small family a young family were at the park and it just seemed so blissful.

With her being so kind, calm and very nice to him he was comfortable then he had been with others. Well the only other comfort he felt with a girl was with Constantine's friends Anna and Vicky his friend. Other then that he was not much of a person to hang around women at all, though he had not a problem talking to them online. It was just that when he was in person he felt less of a person. Mental damage of someone telling him he was pathetic his whole life took the toll on the little boy. At least he was out there with someone who was opening him up and man she was opening him up. Once she said her ability he was so sorry he apologized quickly realizing he must of been driving her nuts. But no she was so kind to him even still to where she soothed him. Told him it was alright, he didn't know, so she did tell him it was alright.

Also was true he did not have control over the emotions since he was feeling so many of them right now. She was so perfect to hang around and they had not gotten out of the car yet and he did not even want to since they were talking. His eyes kept at her which was the longest eye contact he had in his lifetime. He didn't understand what she was looking for in his eyes but she was drawn to them too. His emotions went to the state of happy and calm now and leveled at there for the moment. Though he was nervous since she was squeezing his hand, physical contact with him. Nervous rose but died back down after she was done with the firm squeeze but rose again when she turned her body to him. Her two hands now grabbed his own two hands and he held his breath. His hands were clutching the sweatshirt not her hands but her hands were squeezing his hands.

Eyes kept there for a moment then he looked up at her again and let her tell him about his power. Sure he did think his power was amazing but he did not think it was as cool as others. Anna, Constantine's friend, can heal people and got rid of the slit scars on his wrists. Which is how he was wearing a short sleeved band shirt right now instead of hiding. Constantine can talk to dead people which he thought that was both creepy and cool to the max. Vicky had powers too, she can make things appear to be there but they are not there, it is a complete illusion. Now Toni, she can sense what he is feeling which is good for when someone is in fear or something. She should be a cop, he thought so that when someone kidnaps someone makes them act normal she would sense the fear. Either way Toni was perfect to him and she was so comforting to him, made his spirit lift.

So he did absentmindedly move his hands to stop gripping onto his sweatshirt. Instead he calmed down and took his hand then gripped into her hands. "Thank you." He said softly since she was so kind to him and he needed to show her he did appreciate it. "I can't control my ability." He remarked to her to show he knew how she felt. "I just got my p-p-p-power two months ago ex-exactly. A week before I ran a-a-away to come here to San." His speech is better to where he was stuttering less but still stuttering. Though now you can make out his english accent much more better. A smile went on his lips then he tilted his head looked at her again then actually asked something. "Can we s-s-stay here for awhile? I've already seen t-t-the square in my dreams a little. I like talking to you, here." His eyes looked down as he asked since he was nervous to ask. But when he was done he felt alright about it then looked at her again with the small smile on his face.

"Your welcome." She said with a smile and a soft voice. She was rather shocked that he had managed to work up the courage and touch her hands. She figured that he wouldn't have done that. But all the same she was glad that he did. She was extremely happy to see that he was starting to warm up to her and starting to let her in. She didn't want him to feel locked up or caged anymore. She wanted him to enjoy the world around him and everyone in it as well. The world was full of all sorts of people good and bad and she knew that, which is why she always wanted people to see that all the good people in the world are more important then those who aren't. She knew those your were bad and she could feel them at night too. The pain that others get at night. Everything always seemed to happen in the dark when no one is suppose to sense anything. But Toni hardly sleeps at night so she gets to feel and since it all. Sometimes it would led her to tears and others it would lead her to a point where she had never felt but it was sad and dark almost like a black hole. But when that sun comes up every morning it was always happier and different.

She listened carefully as he talked about not being able to control his own ability. She remembered when she got her ability right around Halloween. The worst time of the year to get an ability where you can sense how those around you feel. It wasn't as bad as it is now though. But all the same she was freaked out on how much her moods were swinging. At first she thought that she may have been mentally ill but she wasn't. Later on, she had found out of her ability from reading a few of her mother's journals in the attic. There weren't of much help but it did some explaining though. She had found out that she was an empath and she had read on how strong her mom had her power and how much control her mother had over it. For the longest time Toni couldn't go out to parties or even to public places with out wanting to tear her head off. The emotions of those who touched her or were in arm distanced began to grow stronger and more clear as the time went by. But now that Toni has a little control and can manage to block out a certain percent of the emotions it wasn't so bad until she lost her concentration at night.

"I got my ability around Halloween and my eighteenth birthday." She said slowly as she looked up at him and smiled. "I have managed to do some controlling during the day but at night I have none." She said slowly. She loved his accent. She loved all accents. They were interesting to her. The fact that they were saying the same things but the way each one was said and sounded were all different. She had a french accent and Gio has an English one. She always wondered why everything was so different when it came to speech. She thought the world would be better if everything was said the same so that way there would not be as much confusion as there is today.

When Gio had asked her if they could stay in her car instead of going outside, she smiled back to him. "Of course we can stay in here if you like." She said in a cheerful mood since she really didn't want to go outside either. She had her ability controlled so she only felt her and Gio's emotions and now one else's. When his chin went down, she was about to lean over and left it up but he had already done that. Her hand slowly moved back to her own body. Gio was very much different from others. He was Naive and was curious yet afraid. She thought it was refreshing to meet someone who didn't know everything. She was happy that she had convinced him to meet her today.

She sat there with a smile on her face for a moment, as her hands rested on her thighs. "So how did you hear about San?" She asked him curiously since not too many people have and not alone most people would rather take the long way around before going through San. Toni has lived her almost her whole life. But the first few months or years of her live were somewhere else in some city. But once Toni got her she really enjoyed the people that lived in this small town. She loved how everyone was different and everyone had their own views. It wasn't until later on that she saw that they were also close minded at least a few of them were. Some people only wanted to believe in certain things and others well they thought that the people that were different from them were not human and should not be able to live around here. But either way this was Toni's home and she will stand and live here for until how long she can.

Now this was something, she got her powers when she was 18 years old and even not to long ago too. He read up you normally get the powers at 16 years old but some were later bloomers. So she was one of them but still another thing in common since he only gotten his power in December. That was when he ran away from home and now was here in a better place. "I wish th-th-that I had control of my power." He said since he had no control and it would randomly come out of him. Was tiresome having your soul rip out of your body then run around for a whole night of god knows what. Maybe if he had control of his power he would be able to sleep better at nights. But he knew it was going to take some time, at least his power wasn't as bad as others. Couldn't even imagine what Antonia had to go through to maintain her powers or Constantine for that matter.

Gio would of went crazy if some voices were randomly talking to him, which Con said that was the beginning of his power. That would be creepy and unbearable other then just falling asleep then having your soul wander around freely. But at least he was comfortable here and now which was all that mattered to him. His eyes looked at her when she agreed to his request which he smiled slowly since she was too nice. Maybe a little too nice which he wondered about for only a moment then stopped. Why not have someone be nice to him for once, it was supposed to be a change. As for anything else he was sure it was only maintain one another just as friends for now. Nothing more even wondered to his head anymore about kissing or hugging since she didn't seem interested. That was fine for him since he didn't have many friends and also many girls who were friends.

So this was a good start for another new relationship to earn and he smiled. Good thing he did come out of his little box and allow her out since now he was quite comfortable. Sitting there his hands went balled into his own lap again since she pulled her hands away from him. Though her hands were away he can still feel how soft they were against his own. Girls were interesting, yeah he was interested, it was only natural for him to be interested in females at his age. Sure he had not a clue what to do with them other then hang out which is what he was doing. At least he was not so up tight and nervous anymore and tried his best to stutter less since he was getting comfortable. He bite his bottom lip but stopped sine it hurt, the evil wound. "I went to the l-l-library at my school then re-re-researched my condition. Dad shouted someth-th-thing about me being t-t-tainted something so I just looked up his words." He paused to catch himself.

"Since some of the th-th-things he called me, I believed at the time, were t-t-true. So I looked up t-t-tainted and San came up. Saying it w-wa-was a sanctuary for anyone who had an ability and who were t-t-tainted. Took whatever money I co-co-could find from my Dad then ran away from home, from England. Arrived here, Constantine f-f-found me then took me into his home wh-wh-which is now where I currently stay. When did you come here?" He explained his whole round about how he got there and how he found San. Was a miracle he was found since he was nearly starved to death in the forest near San. Would of been sad for him to almost make it there and never got to see it. Con literally did save his life by finding him then taking him in then nursing him back to health. Happiness kind of swarmed inside Gio since he was in a happy position in general since he had his new friend and new life.

She smiled as she listened to his wish of control over his power. She titled her head to the side some with a smile on her face. She could feel his emotions rubbing on her mind. She wanted to relax him and that very busy mind of his. She leaned towards him slowly. A small hand set on the edge of his seat as she moved her face closer to his. She reached over and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. It was a soft and delicate peck and that was it. She pulled away slowly with a smile on her face. "One day you will have control over your power. Just give it time." She said softly as she moved back to her own seat. She straightened her jean skirt out some and slide a leg under her other thigh. She hoped that would change his sight of mind.

She didn't know if she would get into some major trouble by kissing him but it was just a kiss. He may be younger but his adopted father didn't seem to mind. Plus who would really care anyways. It's not like she was forcing him to have sex with her. It was just a kiss. Which in many cultures means many different things. She thought he was cute and he was different from all the other guys out there. He was honest and just nicer maybe it is because he was still so innocent or maybe it was just the way he was. She wasn't sure but she knew that he was going to end up the life that he always wanted.

She pulled all of her hair onto one shoulder. She leaned her one shoulder as she turned her body towards him. She still had a smile on her face but it went down some. "My mom's family lives here. When I was a baby we moved from Paris to here. A few years ago there was an accident and my mom ended up in a coma. But I have lived here most of my life." She said slowly as she looked at him. It always hurt her to speak about her mom but she knew that she had to do something or talk it out. She knew that she had to start to move on every time she went to the doctors she felt less and less of her mother and more of nothing.

She knew that the day will come when she will only have her brother and her friends. Her father well he is never around anymore since he had got too caught up in the fashion lifestyle. She went up to see him a few months ago but all he could say was that he didn't have a daughter nor did he have a son because if he did then he would be considered old. She was hurt by what he said but she also knew that he was afraid of her since she told him about her power. Her father was always worried about the Tainted taking over and destroying the human race. After that day Toni promised herself that she would not end up like her father nor would she ever be with a person like him.
