It was a cool Monday morning; Antonia woke up from her crazy night out at a party. She sat up in her bed and stretched. She looked around the room and saw that everything was still in place which meant that she didn’t bring anyone home that night which gave her relief. She pulled her fluffy purple comforter off of her, revealing Antonia in a gray hooded sweatshirt with the words, “Volleyball Tournament” in bold blue letters. She put a hand on her hair to feel that her hair was all a mess. She crawled out of bed slowly wishing that she was still in bed but her stomach was growling so she was on a hunt for some coffee and some food. She stood up and looked down. She had on just the sweatshirt but she figured that everyone was gone by now since the clock read 10:35. She opened her door and walked down the hall and slowly down the stairs that lead into the kitchen. She sleepily walked over to the fridge as she didn’t pick her feet up afraid that she would slip on something. She reached out and opened up the fridge door. She reached in to where her creamer would normally be but she felt nothing there. She slowly opened her eyes up more. The fridge was empty there was an apple and not even a glass of milk left. She closed the door a little aggravated by the fact that no one seemed to know how to go shopping. She sighed and turned to the coffee pot to find that it too was empty. She shook her head and rolled her eyes as she decided to just go back to her room. She climbed up the stairs as her mind began to put a list together. She was just so shocked that her other house mates did not know how to go shopping or even how to put a freaking list… A list that is all she wanted so that way she knew what needed to be bought.
In her room, she closed the door a little hard. She pulled the sweatshirt over her head and dropped it onto her bed. She walked into her bathroom and started the water for the shower. She made sure the water was not too cold or too hot but just right for her liking. She took off her panties and dropped them into her laundry hamper in the bathroom. She walked over to the mirror and began to wash her face. She looked into the mirror after washing her face. She was thankful that there weren’t any dark circles under her eyes. She began to brush her teeth when her cell phone went off to “under the sea” from the Little Mermaid Movie. She raised an eyebrow up as she walked over with her toothbrush in her mouth. She didn’t get to the phone in time and within a few seconds there was a voice mail. She called her voice mail as she walked back into the bathroom. It was from her brother asking her to pick him up some deodorant and condoms and of course food. She rolled her eyes as she closed her flip phone and set it on the counter. She grabbed her hair into one hand and spit the toothpaste into the sink. She rinsed her toothbrush out and then rinsed her mouth out. She stood up and put the toothbrush and toothpaste away in their right spots. She walked over and climbed into the shower.
30 minutes later, Toni climbed out of the shower feeling calmed down and refreshed. She grabbed a towel to dry her hair off with. After drying her hair she wrapped her hair up in the towel. She grabbed the other towel and dried her body off and wrapped her body up too in the towel. She stepped out of the shower onto a rug. She took another yawn since she was normally still tried because she hasn’t had her cup of coffee yet. She slipped her little feet into her fluffy pink slippers and began to walk out of the bathroom and to her closet. She didn’t really want to get too dressed up today. Something simple and yet cute was what she was looking for today. She pulled some dark blue low rise jeans that were also boot cut. She set the pants on the bed and then walked back into the closet and pulled out a white strapless top that was tight on her and then she also pulled out a purple and pink knitted poncho. She held onto these two items with her index finger and then opened up her top drawer of her dresser and pulled out matching bra and panties. She walked out of the closet and began to get dressed.
After she was dressed from the clothes to her hair being curled in her loose trade mark curls. She had her makeup done and everything. She had on black wedges to make her a little bit taller. She stood in front of her full length mirror and admired her outfit. She smiled as she grabbed her keys and black purse. She was about to walk out of her room when she remembered that her cell phone was in the bathroom. She quickly grabbed her cell phone and was on her way to the market.
20 minutes after leaving home, Toni had gotten herself a Carmel frappuccino. She had parked her Jeep Cherokee only a walking distance from the entrance to the market. She had walked slowly and patiently to the market. She was going to have a good day today even if it meant that she had to be patient. She walked into the market. She grabbed a cart and walked right over to the fresh produce section. She was looking at the apples from the Granny Smith to the Delicious Reds. She had to make sure that all of her fruit and food was unharmed otherwise she would not buy it. She didn’t look around to see who was at the market since she had the feeling that most of her friends were either at the university or working or still sleeping in from last night clubbing and partying.

BRRRIIING!! Aero struggled out of his mound of blankets on the couch to get to the phone. It might have looked like just a giant mound of blankets had he not started to move. He fell out of the blankets and scrambled for the phone. "Hello?" He asked pushing a hand though his short hair. "Aero, kalimera!" came a voice then a babble of Greek. Why did she always have to call so goddamn early and then expect him to be able to function enough to understand was she was saying. "Stamata," he said for a moment and grabbed a glass of water, "What, mother?" She proceeded slower this time scolding him for forgetting his homeland and language for a while. He rolled his eyes and nodded as she began to tell him all about the family and the third cousins he didn't even know in America.
Then she got to her point. It always started out with a "Before you say anything..." He cut her off before she could say anything, "Ochi, mama, not another one." He sighed and she went on as though he hadn't said anything. She kept insisting that he got married why? he had no idea. He was perfectly alright living as a bachelor. He looked around, and if I had a girlfriend she might die of fright, his apartment was littered with junk all over the place. It wasn't like trash he was just a pack rat and didn't like to give anything away or throw anything away. If his mother could see this she might kill him. He had just come back from Greece in fact and she couldn't seem to not bother him. He heard his sister in the background telling her to leave him alone. She was a saint.
He told her that he needed to go get food and he had to go. She sighed and said goodbye and he laughed hanging up the phone. He looked about the small kitchen and opened a few drawers. He really hadn't been lying he never had any food at his house. He made his way to the bathroom and jumped into the shower quickly. He shaved quickly and brushed his teeth nursing a small cut on his chin. He sighed pulling on a pair of jeans and a collared shirt. He popped a piece of gum into his mouth to keep his jaw occupied and to keep his stomach from thinking about food. He grabbed his wallet and keys and stuck them in his pockets and went out of the door. He trotted down the stairs whistling happily. "Welcome back, Aero." Said a man on the second floor who was the kindest old man that you could ever hope to meet. He was always about to give advise and to talk. "You're in a good mood today," the old man smiled. "Yeah, I don't know why." He waved and walked out the door.
He didn't live too far from the market and he was glad because it would be very hard to change in a crowded street like this. He walked through the crowds of people smiling at the dogs as they complained that their people didn't walk fast enough. He laughed at one who was siting and barking in annoyance at her person to stop talking and move her butt. He patted to dog on he head and smiled, "Patience," he said. She snorted and shook her head at him. He continued on his way dodging people and making his way through the crowd. He hated this many people in one place it was all together annoying. He glared at a group of teenage boys who discarded their cigarettes in the grass. He memorized their faces and decided to teach them a lesson later, after he got some food.
He walked into the market which was thankfully uncrowded. He moved toward the fruit. He needed those badly. He grabbed a few pears and bananas before moving onto the apples. He grabbed another bag for the apples placing the others by his feet. He didn't feel like juggling those today and he had already passed the carts. He glanced them over before deeming them worthy of eating. He reached for an apple and didn't have a very good grip on it and accidentally launched it at a girl standing nearby. "Oh, jeez! Sorry." He smiled and went to pick up the apple. "Are you alright?"

Toni had just put a good two dozen apples that were well mixed from green to yellow to red into the cart. She stood up and looked around to figure out what else the house would need. She was about to pick up some grapes when she felt something hit her arm. She rolled her eyes not wanting to deal with little kids today. She didn't feel any trickery emotions in the area that she was in. She heard someone spoke and she turned her head slowly. She saw a guy who was a little older then what she was. But being 18 meant that everyone was older then her. She put on her sweet smile as she stepped closer to him.
“I am fine trust me.” She said with a nod of her head and a shine in her eyes. She could sense that he was guilty and she felt bad for even thinking that he would be a kid. Most kids are in school at this hour. She was shocked to meet such a nice guy though. Most of the guys she met at that were older then her have been complete jerks and wanting only one thing…. That thing they wanted was a girl who would give them free sex and was too out of her mind to say or object to them which to them made them feel superior.
“My name is Antonia but please call me Toni.” She said as her small soft hand moved between her and the guy that she was now gazing up at. She wondered what his story was like and what he wanted in life. She wanted so many things out of life but she unlike most people thought that she had to earn that first. But hey who knows maybe someday her dreams of having settling down and being with a guy that really cared would come true. But until then she would just date around and get to know a bunch of people and just live life one day at a time almost like baby steps.
She was amazed though on how much she has grown up since last year. She was more mature and by far more responsible. Before she used to be a wreck but back then she thought that she had her father to pick her up when she fell and now she knew that she didn’t have that. Toni figured that she had better straighten up on her own before someday does it for her and more then that. She still slept around per se but hey she was young and she knew what she needed. Plus masturbating only took a girl so far. A guy had what a girl needed and well the girls also had what the guys needed. Together they had both get what they wanted in the end.

Aero grinned and ducked his head in embarrassment. He was such a klutz. He replaced the apple and chose a few more to stuff in the bag before setting that too at his feet with the others. Aero It was times like these that he really hated his power. It ruined his life. He could have been making money as a translator but no he was stuck at a low rate job that paid just barely enough for his rent and food. He wasn't bad off of course, just not as good of as he desired. He needed to stop complaining about that he was fine. And there was no way that he could get a better job. He looked the girl over. She was younger than him, probably about college age. Many people saw that college was the best years of your life and he agreed.
He had crossed the seas to the United States for college and he soon found that they were just as bad off as many people in his home town. So he had returned to Europe not to Greece though. He wanted to see the world but at the moment he was stuck in the all to boring place of here. Although it seemed he was about to meet someone interesting in this small town. He sighed, "Good, I'm so sorry." He shook his head it was just his luck to make himself look like an idiot at every possible moment in time. He glared at the apple. It seemed to glow and catch his eye. Mocking him. Jerk. He pushed it out of his mind and began to make a mental note oh what was needed. Well that was simple. Everything. He thought about it for a moment, he should get some thing in the form of meat or maybe just some cheese. He hadn't had teropites in a while.
He smiled, "Aero," he took her hand lightly, "Nice to meet you Toni." He dropped her hand and looked her over. "Grocery shopping, too?" He laughed, "Yeah, I just rolled back into town and found my kitchen was bare." He grinned and shrugged. She was very beautiful, he observed as he looked her over for a moment. But she was so much younger than he was. He shrugged that off, his father was eight years younger than his mother but that didn't mean that he loved her any less. He shrugged that thought off. He grinned sweetly and leaned against the crates holding the apples. He scratched his chin thinking of something to say. "Do you go to the college?" He asked curiously trying to make conversations.
Aero hoped that she was a little more mature than her age. He's spoken to plenty of college and high school students who thought they were mature but didn't know the first thing about life and broke as the first sign of resistance. He really couldn't stand people like that. Yes, he could have a nice conversation with them but it wasn't anything like a deep conversation that a few individuals surprised him with.

She could sense that he was embarrassed. Most people were when things like this happen. Toni was used to all of the embarrassing moments. She had plenty of those and so much more. But she knew that when someone is there acting normal and not judging you on what embarrassing situation that may have just happened. Toni watched him and could still tell that the emotion of embarrassment and all the emotions that followed that.
She was a little unsure on what she was going to do with her life. She thought that she would be a designer but she also realized from her father that she didn’t want in that scene. Her father was a photographer a big time one now. She knows that the high class life puts pressure on a person but for a father to tell his daughter that he didn’t want to be around her or even want to be her father anymore because Toni made him feel old. She never wanted to be like that. She would rather just open up a little shop in town and have a family rather then be in that high class lifestyle.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Aero.” She said as she stood up straight and smiled. She laughed softly and nodded her head. “Yes, I am shopping.” She said with a nod. “This is what happens when you live with four other people and no one can leave a list or say when something is gone. So this morning I woke up to no coffee and nothing in the fridge.” She spoke in a soft and sincere voice as she kept good eye contact with him. She smiled and shook her head. “Don’t be sorry, we all have butter fingers at times.” She said softly. She tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. She turned and picked out some oranges. She didn’t want to seem like she was really interested even when she was. Besides if she acted like she was interested what kind of fun would there be. She put some oranges that passed her approval into a bag. She looked over her shoulder to see that he was still there. She smiled a little more as she turned her head and continued to pick out oranges.
“Actually no… I decided to skip college for the year until I figure out what I want to do.” She said as she turned and looked at him. Her smile turned into a full smile with teeth and all. She set the bag of oranges into the basket and then leaned on the cart a little bit. “So I take it you are out of college huh?” She said with a smirk on her face. She knew the answer to that already but she wanted to continue on with the conversation. She didn’t want to seem like some dumb kid who didn’t have a clue on what to do with life.

Aero gathered his bags and carefully balanced then with one arm and strode over to a rack that held nuts. He loved nuts. It was weird no one in his family like nuts except for him. He grabbed a few different kinds like sunflower, peanut, and pistachio. He watched her out of the corner of his eye and moved back to the fruit wondering what else he could gather without having to break and get a cart. Not much, he decided and wandered away leaving his things on the floor and pulled back a cart and dumped everything in. He looked around wondering if anyone thought that he had forgotten about that and he felt self-conscious.
He wondered if he should get a better job now that he was thinking about it. He could probably go teach Greek at the university but that would mean he would have to have a schedule. Right now people called and he would translate for them where ever they went around the town or on vacation. It was a bore and sometimes the people were really thick and didn't even understand their own language. Or when they pretended to know the language when they didn't and made Aero want to hit them.
"Pleasure," Aero said with a small bow. Aero winced, "That's even worse." He laughed, "so you had to try to wake yourself up on your own this morning?" He grinned. "Not one of them realized that the kitchen was empty? Wow, that's pretty bad." He smiled. Aero shrugged "I don't know it seems I have those times more often than not." He was clumsy he tripped over everything and anything even if he was trying not to trip on it. Like in Greece on time he was the laughing stock of the church having nearly tripped into the organ and sending the choir into a fit of laughter that was even harder to stop than normal considering the unearthly time of midnight. He shook his head in remembrance. He walked along the oranges with her checking a few but discarding all of them. He didn't really like oranges that much. They were too much of a hassle to eat. He knew it sounded lazy but he didn't have a lot of time to sit around and peel an orange.
"That's good," he said, "No point in going into something you hate for lack of knowing what you want to do." It was very logical. Aero laughed awkwardly, "Yeah, well, dropout actually." He said, "There were many complications when I was in college and I was majoring in languages." He felt nervous admitting that to a complete stranger, well not compete stranger just a new acquaintance and potential friend. He shifted nervously wondering if she would see him as a failure.

She smiled and nodded her head. “Yeah and I am one of those people that need to have the food and coffee in the morning.” She moved her cart over some as she looked at some oranges and then back at him. Her brother loved oranges but she wasn’t a huge fan of oranges. She hated the whole peeling part which is probably why she always cut all of her oranges. But her brother for some crazy reason loved fruit all kinds. Maybe it was because of the diet of lots of meat when he was a wrestler and not really having the choice of fruit. Whatever his reason is, Toni didn’t care. She was more into the pastas and the baked goods more then the fruit. She mostly bought fruit for when she needed it as an ingredient but she still had some fruits which she enjoyed eating. “No everyone has a life so I just pick up the things that everyone else forgot about like food.” She said with a small laugh as she looked over her shoulder at him.
“Exactly…” She said with a smile on her face. She stopped and listened to him. She understood where he was coming from. “Hey at least you tried. Most people either can’t get in or they are afraid of going. At least you went.” She said in a supportive voice. She understood his emotions that she was feeling. She knows that it is hard to do something you set yourself out to do but only end up quitting because you just don’t get it. She has done that with a lot of things. She felt him get nervous. She let out a sigh. “Listen there is no reason to be nervous. Languages are so confusing and complicated. Trust me I know. I have to speak French, English of course, and also Italian.” She said slowly as she kept her eyes on him. “I know of a lot of people that dropped out of college and I actually admire them. At least they had the guts to go…” She said to him again. She bite on her lower lip softly and then looked down at the ground.
She didn’t know if she should tell him that she is tainted. But she figured that she should not come to the bridge until it came visible. Plus he might be untainted and flipping afraid of tainted people. She didn’t want to scare him. It’s not like her ability was anything scary. She just picked up on what people were feeling and then she had to figure the rest out. But her power was nothing that could harm someone physically maybe mentally and emotional wise. She looked up at him and decided that she will tell him that when she comes to that bridge or when she knows him more. She doesn’t like telling a lot of people that she is tainted. No one really knows that her family was tainted maybe some of the adults that knew Toni’s mom but that was it.
“So are you just here to pick a few things up or are you like me and have an empty kitchen and here to restock it all?” She asked him in a cheerful voice as she looked at him. She hoped that he was going to stay here longer. She would really like that. Lately she had been bored. Gio is nice to hang out with and everything but she also wanted to hang out with more people then just one person. She was so used to hanging out with so many people in high school. She was a little shocked that now she was so bored. She would have never guessed that she would be like this. She wanted to go to the whole engagement party thing of Caleb’s even though she disliked him down to the bone. But she just was a little torn. She doubts that she was going to go since her and Caleb always got into it. Plus he was always telling Toni that he was in love with Anna and yet he is engaged to some bimbo.

Aero laughed "Yeah that's not too good." He smiled, he wasn't much of a breakfast eater but he like to have a little something after he had finished waking up. If he had to be somewhere early he didn't even bother and he didn't care for coffee too much. He wasn't sure if it was the bitterness or the smell. He grinned, "I like having things to do but I always managed to get time to shop for food." He laughed it was like meeting a dear friend after a long absence. It was so easy to talk to Toni. It was a relief that he could have a pleasant conversation with someone other than they animals who really couldn't get that deep into conversation. It was mostly about food, sleep, and food. He shrugged to himself he needed to get out more.
Aero shrugged, "But I didn't finish, maybe I should go back." He smiled now there was a thought. He could finally get his life back to the way it was before his powers. He shook his head that would never happen and he knew it. He sighed, "It wasn't exactly the languages that got me to drop." He said shifting back and forth wondering if he had said too much. Would she suspect him? He shrugged again examining a container of strawberries, "Yeah I guess... Wait. You admire them?" He asked startled, "Why would you admire them?" That was something that he had never heard before. his parents had nearly skinned him alive for dropping out and he had had to lie and say that he didn't like it. He had loved it. Had he never gotten this power he could be great and rich. He shook his head it was never about the money though...
He wonder was tainted or not. If she wasn't she was very decent for a human if she was then the kindness shown to others is astounding. Normally people he knew who were tainted didn't give the untainted the time of day. He wondered if that was why they didn't like each other. A long chain of events. The untainted feared them and they acted superior to the untainted It was mutual hatred over something so silly. But it was an age old hate, never to be called silly. He shook his head and dropped the strawberries into the cart. He looked at the things and though about what else he might need. He was watching her out of the corner of his eye. He was a suspicious person and just because she was beautiful and kind didn't mean that she wasn't against him. He hated feeling like everyone was an enemy but that was the way all tainteds had to live their lives.
He grinned, "Yeah my kitchen is bare and i decided perhaps it was time to make a stop here." He laughed. He shrugged, "I guess that's what happens when you are too lazy to move after coming home." He smiled. He really had been slacking. He had gotten in three days ago and had been sitting around not having the motivation to do anything. His arms and legs had hurt from days of flying and running and all that fun stuff. He normally wasn't this negligent but he had been so tired. Just thinking about it made him want to go back to sleep. "So what were you planning on majoring in before you decided to see what fit you best?" He wondered curiously it was good to get the topic off of food. Never shop hungry, they say, he never believed it until now.
