Anna sighed and pulled her blanket over her head when she woke up. Early for once. She was really getting used to the fact that she wasn't in school anymore, rarely getting up before noon. Yet today, something woke her up at the crack of dawn. She would of pulled herself out of bed, drank about ten million cups of coffee, and went on with her day. But then she remembered it was that cursed day. The evil day where people celebrated a little naked flying kid who shoots arrows in people's butts. The evil day that seemed to make people so much mushier than normal. Annabelle's least favourite holiday - Valentine's Day. If it wasn't corny enough already with it's pink and white everywhere.... everyone seemed to like love people today. Hugging random strangers. They made such a big deal of it in San too. They had this entire day full of activities and stuff. Her grandparents used to force her to it because they themselves would volunteer to help with it. Anna thought it was all stupid....
She sighed and tried to fall asleep again. No chance in hell that was happening. So after about half an hour with no success, Anna rolled out of bed. She lay on the floor for a second before yawning once and standing up. If her grandparents expected her to dress up in pink and red.... they were absolutely senile. And then she remembered something else... Oh no. She had to see HIM today. She hadn't seen him in a week. Not since he had told her about his engagement. Right after she effing saved his life. She had touched his blood for god sakes. And then he ad just jumped her with information how he was getting married to that slut Amber. So maybe Caleb was getting married.... So maybe he was really in love with someone other than herself.... So maybe he really wanted her to smack him with a bag full of bricks..... Caleb really wasn't smart sometimes.
But it was their tradition, she hadn't even checked to see if he was coming at all. She really didn't feel like talking to him at the moment. Ever since they had first met, they had spent Valentine's Day together. Going to lunch at Cafe Beau, then spending the afternoon at the various things at Town Hall and then spending the night at the dance. As soon as she had gotten out of the hideous lacy pink and white thing her grandparents had once forced her into. She hadn't even thought about it.... All her assuming, their relationship, was probably never going to be the same again. Besides, he was probably going to spend the day with his fiancee, leaving Annabelle behind. She knew she should have been expecting this. After all, someone like Caleb wasn't going to wait forever for something like her. And once again, she made the stupid mistake of believing that no matter - Caleb would always be there for her.
She was still fretting about what to do after she had taken a long shower, got dressed and ate breakfast. It was about fifteen minutes to the time she was going to meet him. And that was when she realized she was going to go for the hell of it. If he wasn't there, oh well, who cared. She would hang out by herself all day. And at night, who knows, she'll find herself a guy and elope. Leaving CALEB in the dust for once. Grabbing her car keys, she went outside and maybe slammed her car door shut with a little more force than usual and maybe drove a little too fast for the three minute ride to the Cafe. She was almost positive that he wasn't going to show. He probably didn't even remember any of their little traditions at all. It was all stupid AMBER now.
So maybe she stomped into the cafe with enough force to break the small heels on her feet. Everyone knew she was in the a bad mood already. The sight of all the other couples kissing drove her sort of mad. Why had she never noticed this before? Maybe because she was with Caleb and most people assumed they were a couple... all the time. Not now. Not if Amber was with them, fawning over Caleb, with a huge rock on her finger. They would all know Anna was the third-wheel. The extra person... And she hated it. She chose to sit in the far corner, away from everyone as possible. It was THEIR seat too.... She sighed and waved away the waitress. She wasn't going to order for another hour. If Caleb did show, then she would gladly drink another coffee. If he didn't... she'll gouge herself out on cake and whatever else that would make her feel better.
And after over thirty minutes of waiting, she was seriously starting to doubt that the asshole was going to show.

The night before Valentines was a night with fake emotions and fake love to be made which was just another thing to feed his undying hunger for flesh. When morning came he was the first to wake and in front of him he can see Amber's sleeping figure. Her bare back facing him and he pursed his lips a little. Did not even make a move to go over and wake her at all instead he got out of bed. He didn't care he had no clothing on, he needed a shower anyways, so he walked into the bathroom. As he showered he was thinking about the day and what he was going to do. Yes he remembered it was Valentines and his tradition to never be alone was to see Annabelle. But this year was supposed to be different and he was supposed to be playing the game. For some reason though as the hot water was hitting him he knew he could not just ditch Anna for this day. This was their day which it has been their day for the past 4 different years of Valentines. Sure they did not go as lovers or a couple just friends but still was their day.
So he got out of the shower then dried himself off then walked out with the towel around his waist, Amber still slept peacefully. He did not bother her still he went to get dressed in his normal clothing with boxers, dark blue jeans and a black long sleeved shirt. He went to the mirror to brush his hair but then he noticed a mark located near the bottom of his neck close to the shoulder. Grumbled slightly then removed the shirt to get his black long sleeved turtle neck to be safer. The other shirt did cover it but if lifted to the side Anna would see the mark so he decided the turtle neck would be harder to pull all the way down to see his mark. After changing he went brushed his hair out then rubbed his face, he did a quick shave job in the shower. He did well enough to tolerate it, no stubble patch at all, which was good for him looking in a steamed up mirror. After he was done he went to get his normal black shoes and some socks, he sat down in the chair to put them on.
As he did he looked at Amber as she slept and then felt a little guilty he was ditching off. Whether they were dating or not they still had to respect one another like they were an actual couple, play the role. So when he was finished he stood up then got a piece of paper then write down in fancy script. 'Sorry to leave you without a warning but you looked to peaceful sleeping. So I let you sleep but I will return later on in the evening for I have an important business arrangement.' He then opened his wallet that was sitting there and pulled out 10 hundred dollar bills. 'Here is some money, go into town, buy a new dress for us to go out tonight. I have reservations at 6:30pm so don't shop for too long and be late getting ready.' He slipped in about 1,000 bucks into the note then folded it up and walked over set it right on the nightstand, standing up so she shall see it properly. Walking over he leaned over her in the bed then kissed her on the cheek.
When that was all done he grabbed his keys, phone, cigarettes trench coat and shoved his wallet back into his pocket then left the room. Leaving Amber in his bed, he didn't care, she shall find some entertainment as he is out with his Annabelle. Left the house through the garage and made sure that he did have Amber securely locked into the house. Unlocking his black dodge magnum he stepped inside it then put a cigarette to his lips and lit it before he started the car. Opened the garage door then backed out of his driveway and shut the garage door again. He drove off opening the main steel iron gate doors with his other opener. Then he drove off burning out on the turn and speeding off since he was a little late. He had the window cracked as he was smoking and did not bother with the music. He did not even know if Anna was even showing up since she did not call or text him but still.
He drove off to San which did not take him long at all, just about 30 minutes or so. As soon as he got to the Cafe he parked along the sidewalk across the street. As he stepped out of the car he put on his trench coat then remembered something. Crap! He forgot to get a flower for her so he looked around quickly but thank god there was a flower shop right there. He only got a single deep crimson rose without the thorns then he was settled. Now leaving the shop quickly he walked across the street then inside the small cafe. His blue eyes scanned around at the couples then spotted Anna alone in their spot. A smile cracked on his face since he did love that girl so much and she would just never know how much. He walked over to her seat and took the empty seat but scoot it near her then held the rose in front of her. "Why so sad, baby, it's suppose to be the day of love." He cracked a smile knowing either she would smile at him or just roll her eyes at his cheesy comment. Then again he was so shocked she was there waiting for him but then again another thought went to mind.
"How come you did not call me if you were going to be here? Or were you not reminding me because you invited someone else to replace me?" His eyes looked her over since he checked out what she was wearing and he smiled slowly. His outfit was set in order and course he was nearly dressed in all black as normal except his dark blue jeans. Predictable of him to be all dark on such a love filled day but hell he did not have much sense of wearing bright colors. On his mind was three things and all of them were completely random. One he was wondering if Amber was pissed he just left her in bed, then again if she was then she would call to bitch him out. Two he was wondering if Anna did have some date in mind which is why she did not call him. Also three he was wondering if his demonstration was going to go directly to plan tonight, he felt a little wary about the whole thing.

She was getting desperate. She ordered a black coffee, wishing for something stronger. But that would be completely unacceptable seeing as it was so early. She bit her lip and ran her hand through her hair for the hundredth time. Why was she getting so antsy? Obviously Caleb was going to spend today with his fiancee. That much was expected. She couldn't hope that he would make time to come see her. She fidgeted. Straightening her light pink tank top over and over, tugging her necklace. She didn't even know why she had dressed up slightly. Annabelle knew she looked physically attractive and she was dressed for the holiday. A pair of dark jeans, a light pink tank top, a white jacket.... all together it just showed off her figure. A heart shaped necklace Caleb had bought he ages ago, and her dark hair just framed her faced. Getting dressed up didn't even have its advantages this time. Caleb hadn't told her that he loved her in ages. Not since he became engaged. She drowned her coffee in seconds, and as she stood up to leave, she saw his tall figure enter. She collapsed back down, grateful that he had showed. She quickly rushed the waitress over and ordered two coffees before looking back at Caleb.
A smile graced her face, making her seem prettier than she usually was as her eyes landed on the rose he was holding in front of her. She took it from him and put it to her nose, breathing in the wonderful scent. She loved roses, and she was happy that Caleb actually remembered something so small. She had pointed them out like three years ago when they passed them. It was a girl's typical favourite rose, but she had other reasons as to why she loved them. She loved out potentially dangerous a rose could be, not because it was symbol of love. As she looked down at it, she saw there were no thorns. Or she would of cut her finger by now. She focused her attention on the flower in her hand as she twirled it around. When she went home, she would put it in a vase, and put it on her desk. It was probably going to be her only valentine... Caleb asked her a question and she shrugged and she remembered why he was here again. Which way should she take? Make him jealous? Tell him some other guy was in her life like he replaced her with Amber? Hurt him the way he hurt her?
But instead, she chose to be truthful. "Umm.... I don't know. I didn't know if you were going to show or not. I just came for the sake of tradition......"
Thankfully, the coffee arrived and she emptied most of the sugar bowl into hers. Leaving the rose close. It was significant to her, something to prove that Caleb still remembered her. She always liked her coffee insanely sweet, black coffee was gross. After she stirred it all in, she took a sip, her eyes still avoiding his. A question wanted to leave the tip of her tongue, but she was restraining herself. If she met his eyes, she would be forced to ask it. Ask why he wasn't with his fiancee today. Which would probably bring on a bout of awkwardness she would rather ignore. She should just be glad he was here, in front of her. Happy that he was hers again. Nobody could deny that Annabelle Grey was a possessive little girl. Possession over her things, and it floated over to her possession of people. Once people got extremely close to her, they practically belonged to her. And everyone knew that. Caleb and Drew were the two she was completely possessive over. Maybe that was why she hated Caleb getting married so much... because she had always thought he would belong to her and her alone.
It was stupid, not looking at him. He probably thought something was wrong and she didn't want that to show through. So she looked up, her blue eyes sort of protective over herself - over her heart. Yet of course, as soon as her eyes met his, her heart completely melted into a puddle. No matter how possessive she was over Caleb, he didn't know that she belonged to him. But then a picture of Amber floated up over her mind again, clouding her vision slightly. She wasn't going to ask, she wasn't going to ask.... Curiosity got the better of her.
"Why aren't you spending the day with Amber?"

What she was wearing, how she smelt and how she looked was so much to him that he just wanted to attack in a full range of kisses. But he knew he could not so he resisted for the moment and smiled. Gave her the thornless red rose so that she would not hurt herself on the thing she loved the most. She was happy that he was there like she was expecting him not to show up or something. Like he would forget his Annabelle on Valentine's day because to him this was there day. Sort of forgot the fact that he was meant to spent with his fiancee and this was his slip up. He went asked her if she was waiting here for him or for someone to replace him. God he was hoping it was the first one which soon he let out a smile when she answered. That was a breath of a relief he needed from him then he tilted his head off to the side as he pondered before speaking. "Tradition. So neither one of us had to spend Valentine's Day alone." He paused for a moment. "I remember our first Valentine's Day ever. I couldn't barely speak french at all." He went smirked slowly then laughed off since he remembered when he used to mix up his french with his polish. Man that was a mess back in the days but now he was strong and solid. Would not even know he was from Poland at all, would think of him as French born, he was well with his words now. When two coffees came he nodded to the waitress then he went took his coffee. All he did was add some cream to it and two sugars unlike what Anna did with her coffee. The woman loved sugar so she would drown the poor drink in all this sugar which he always laughed about. Taking a spoon on the table he stirred his drink up right away then let it cool down for it be too hot. He took the spoon set it on the table then he looked across at Anna. She seemed to fidgety for him this day which he looked at her for a moment then pursed his lips. Guess she was thinking about why he was here and not with his fiancee which he bite on his bottom lip. No idea how to even answer that at all other then he wanted to tell her he did love her still. No matter what happened he wanted to tell her that he was going to be there for her. But how was he supposed to prove that was true when he was getting married to someone. What can he say to her to show her that he did care which he then smirked slowly. Ah yes, the gift he had brought her, he remembered putting it into his trench coat pocket the night before. Just so he would not forget and also so Amber would not find them. "I got you something, love." He took out the black continuer which had to be nothing more then a necklace or bracelet. There was no waiting he opened the box in front of her then set it on the table to reveal the bracelet. Was made from pure white gold, real diamonds from god knows where and would really fit only her since he got it custom resized. Looked simple enough but the damn thing cost him more then $2,000 dollars in total. Though he was not going to tell her that since he did not care the price. All he did care about was that he did make her happy. Well he tried at least and at this moment it seemed like he forgotten his fiancee all together. She was his his real fiancee at all anyways but like Anna knew that and he had to play the part. Anna of course had to ruin the moment with asking the question. "Who?" He said absentmindedly like he had already forgotten and then the next question as even worst. "Why?" He then stopped to think for it for a moment then he remembered. Stupid goof, yes your supposed to be with your fiancee your deathly in love with instead of here with Annabelle. Which he went took a long drink of coffee to settle himself before coughing to clear his throat. "OH Amber...um." He remarked which was not a good start off to a lie and then he smiled slowly. "She is out buying a dress for tonight. We are going to be coming here for the Valentine's Feast. You know me, I hate to go shopping so I told her to go have fun and met with her later. Knowing her as well as I do my sweetie is probably buying the whole damn shopping strip of Marseille." He remarked with a small fake laugh then he cleared his throat. His smile faded then he took his coffee to take a drink from it then he looked at Anna. "What are your plans for the rest of the evening?" He said to make the talk mutual also so he can see where she is going to be. Since after all he was going to keep a watch onto her without her knowing. Now a days he was getting paranoid she was hanging around men he would not like. He is supposed to be the one making her jealous to want him not make her pissed to go away. So he did have one of his Caliga friends watch her from a good safe distance. Like he would want harm to come to his Anna, or anything else, so he kept his watch. His eyes went flashed down to the gift he got her and he slide it over to her for her to take and gawk. Or try on her own wrist which he was sure he would have to help.

She said nothing, just listening to him. The only way you could tell that she was happy was the smile on her face that didn't seem to be disappearing. When he said he got her something, she just raised an eyebrow. When he opened the box, she couldn't help but give a delighted gasp. It was exquisite. She was used to her parents and her grandparents showering money on her. She was their little darling, James could fend for himself. And she had to say she was used to Caleb buying her little trinkets a lot. But she hadn't expected anything. She seriously had thought that the rose was her present. That was all she needed after all. A nagging feeling of guilt started poking at the back of her mind and Caleb helped that nagging feeling grow stronger as he sort of forgot who his fiancee was. She took her eyes off the bracelet, and turned her attention back to Caleb, wanting to hear what he had to say. She didn't laugh when he did, as she usually would of done. Her smile wavered for a split second, before she covered it up. She was used to pretending she didn't care about anything. That was how she had always lived.
She had major acting skills, she needed to admit. For her entire life, and especially after she became popular in San did she start living a perfect lie. Nobody knew the real reason why she was shipped off to her grandparents here in San. To them, she had told them that her parents loved her very much but out of love for her, sent her to France so she could live a happier life. Wrong. To them, it looked like her parents just spent oodles of money on her whenever she or they visited. Out of love again? Pfft. The bitchy, cold exterior, the stupid mask she needed, wasn't her real self. She was completely different on the inside, just too afraid to show it. That was probably what was stupid of her in the first place. Only Drew really knew what was going on inside of her, she wouldn't even let Caleb know. Her life really did suck, even if people had no clue why. It looked she was living the perfect, enviable life. Her father owned a string of large department stores and her mother was an ex model. They didn't know how even in a perfect life, ideas of perfection were just a delusion.
She sighed once, before being brought out of her train of thoughts by Caleb asking her a question. About what she was going to do tonight. She shrugged, not answering. When he handed over the bracelet, she pulled the dainty thing out of the box and carefully put it on her own wrist. Not fumbling with the clasp at all. Years of having no-one but herself to rely on made her learn how to put on her own jewelry, how to zip up her own clothes. Something else Caleb didn't know about her, since he looked like her sort of wanted to help her put it on. That was when she realized that she hardly knew Caleb at all. They knew each other's secrets. He was actually the only person who knew about her power, since she had accidentally used the on him. But every time else, they had found so many other better things to do than to go on and on about their lives. To them, together, their lives had started when Anna was 13 and he was 15. When they met, anything before that was trivial and not important. Why in the world was she seeing this all now? And now before? She cursed whatever part of her mind was making her think like this.
She held out her arm to examine how the bracelet looked on her wrist. The sunlight caught the diamonds on it and sparkled and she had to smile in delight. She loved it, and without looking at Caleb, spoke. "It's so pretty," she said breathlessly. "Thank you....." she said with a smile. Before his engagement, whenever she wanted to say thank you, she would always kiss him. But she could hardly do that now. He just had to be content with a smile lighting up her face again. Then she remembered the question he had asked ages ago. They had both been in the same dilemma. Not knowing how to answer a question. His had been more difficult than hers, but still. 'What are you doing tonight?' should be an incredibly easy question to answer. Yet to her, at that exact moment, it wasn't. Again, she decided to be truthful. Whatever, it wasn't like anything mattered anymore. She had to finally realize that he actually was getting married to a whore, and that she had been shoved to the side.
"Ummm..... my grandparents are dragging me to the thing in San.... Valentine's Day Festival."
