Tag:: Open to anyone who is looking for some fun and doesn’t hate the Tainted! Feel free to join in if your character has some power of their own that they want to exploit lol! _________________________________________ Ice was cold, well it’d have to be since it was frozen, but the chill was not a welcomed thing. As winter was fast coming to an end this gave a perfect opportunity to practice certain skills. Well the ice was softer not but still solid, so it shouldn’t be that hard to help it along changing it’s form from ice to water and back, when mother nature was doing half the work for you. But- it took absolutely none of the fun away. Kristin loved the water, she always had. For a while when she was hiding her powers from everyone she wondered if it was because she’d loved the water so much that was why she had the ability to move it. The first time however that water had ever done what she wanted it was a big deal, saving her fathers life, after that it had basically taken all the energy out of her body and left her weak so she’d spent the rest of her life from that point building up the ability to make it more secure. You had to be secure. Water is a force, a part of nature that shouldn’t be in the control of a 19 year old girl, but she was abundantly responsible with it, never careless, and never caught, so that when the time did come that things got out of hand she could get things managed no problem.
Perhaps one of the most difficult parts to having the power was that it had, under all circumstances, to be kept a secret. Yet every night at 6 o’clock there are stories of floods, tidal waves, dames breaking and people loosing their lives, when Kristin could have done something. But the world was stubborn and not willing to accept what she could offer, they cut her open, experiment on her, kill her ultimately before the idea of an outside ‘freak’ helping them. That’s what she wanted more than anything was to help. The possibilities we’re nearly endless, since water was right up there with oxygen of top importance. The ability to transport water to other country’s so that no where went through a drought, helping the environment to sustain itself through global warming and so many more things. Though they we’re merely fantasy’s her mind thought of while she continued her normal life.
“Step, step, jump!” The path was so familiar by this point it was not even worth it to count the number of paces to the river from her house anymore. Kristin had come here almost every single night since she’d moved to Marseille, in fact it was so familiar by now that her feet had made their own track through the woods. It was a short-cut, just incase anyone did ever to manage to come by and see her, that she could sneak away without being captured.
Captured.
Many times when things hadn’t gone exactly, right, and she could have sworn there we’re eyes watching her do what she does best, she would stay up all night picturing what would have happened. Would they call the police? Lock her up in a cage. Torture her for information she didn’t have? There was no conspiracy here, well, maybe there was, but she definitely was not a part of it.
The trees we’re thick through this part, thought the path was memorized well, when to duck, when to jump, what branches to hold so they don’t swing back and hit you. Time was her friend, for now at least. It was late sort of, a quarter past twelve. In a small town hardly anyone was out now, and if people we’re they wouldn’t be in a forest, well, she was sure there might be someone that watched her out her, but only because she was paranoid, probably. The only light spared was that which the moon cast down, it skipped some spots in the forest floor. Mainly covered in the white fluffy stuff though, some parts had already melted through. It was wet so her socks we’re drenched already. Then again she always got wet doing this. Curse or blessing. Take it or leave it.
Coming to the end of her trail she’d been at her almost running pace for half an hour now and had finally heard the sound that sent tingling down her spine.
The current.
It was a beautiful sound really, no one ever took the time to just appreciate the water and it’s power. Kristin found herself humbled to it instantly. Stepping close to the edge she checked it out a little, the edge we’re frozen solid, yet the further inward towards the center was where the water was at its strongest. Suddenly it was rising straight upwards into the sky, growing higher and higher! Then it curved and spilt into to separate streams of the precious liquid high into the sky, above the trees and beyond. Kristin stared, still taken in by the sight, as the bottom froze; keeping the water in place, the frost built up and soon it was cemented in place, in twisted, beautiful spirals. Kind of like a metaphor for her sometimes, twisted and crazy, but beautiful none the less. Soon it buckled and crashed again into the stream. Before it had a chance to settle she was raising it again, this time it formed a cylinder spiral around her, starting at the base of her feet to the top of her head and beyond, tunneling itself while she remained centered. The water splashed off of her soaking her till she solidified it as it was high in the sky. Again she made different structures and shapes with the water always returning it to the river from which it came from.
“Beautiful.”
Breathless awe was all there was left, her body was wiped but there was still energy in her to do more. Her clothes had dried as it wasn’t hard to remove water, Kristin could not only move large masses of water, but she’d spent so much time for months and months just doing little things that even the tiniest amount of water was left penetrable to her. It was freeing. Liberation. Completely and totally addicting.

Rosalie ran into the forest, looking rather suspicious. She had a black cloak on, with the hood up trying to conceal her identity. Though she didn't really have to it was late at night, nobody was up. She looked up into the tree and floated up to a high branch. Quickly grabbing onto the trunk of the tree for balance. She looked back down from where she flew up. She smiled at herself and stared ahead.
It was a beautiful night, a nice night to practice some flying. Though a forest wasn't ideally a good place to fly through, she couldn't exactly fly diagonally anyways. She looked at another branch in another tree in front of her leaped towards it, floating the distance her steps couldn't reach. She giggled at her accomplishment and continued onwards. As if skipping through the tree branches.
She started the sing, as she skipped through the trees on their branches. "I can fly~" She jumped up and twirled in mid air holding it and floating down back another branch. "But I want his wings~" She smiled as she looked up seeing the moon through the tree branches. "I can shine, even in the darkness~" She continued to skip along through the branches. "But I crave the light that he brings~" She giggled happily, she never felt so alive when she was out like this. Floating freely without a care in a world, like how birds are. She held her arms out like a plane and jumped from branch to branch just on her toes. "Revel in the songs that he sings, My angel Gabriel~"
She was oblivious to the fact that she singing above Kristin, who was playing with the water from the river below her. She jumped out of the tree, her back facing the ground gently floating to the ground like a leaf in the fall. "I can love, but I need his heart~" She continued to sing, her eyes closed. She landed on the ground, feeling that was damp and opened her eyes, still not noticing Kristin's presence. "I am strong, even on my own. But from him I never want to part~"

No kidding, took me like half an hour to find the song she was singing hahah! __________________________________ After playing with the water enough, soon you find yourself envious of it. The way it forms freely on it’s own accord, never having to obey they rules. It cuts it’s own path into the earth of which it chose to follow and flow from. You find yourself seeing the world in a whole new light if you look long enough, and hard enough at it to enjoy the full beauty. The way the starlight and high moon up above twinkle in the tiny ripples in the water, the speed at which it travels making everything else look slow motion. And it never ends, there is always another gust of water to come crashing through, it’s amazing really. And yet water was such a basic thing, really only composed of two element, oxygen and hydrogen, but it’s electrons worked in such a perfectly balanced way. Where one only need a certain number of electrons, and one was more than willing to give that needed electrons, once together it was almost impossible to separate them.
“I can’t believe I’m still thinking about that stupid chemistry test.” Kristin thought out loud laughing a little at herself. With the waters reaching high up into the sky, she swooshed up a tide under her own feet, raising her up and holding her there, perfectly balanced in a shell of soft water that would never let her fall. Maybe this is what she needed, to feel protected and sheltered, knowing no harm can come to you while your raised so high above that your feet couldn’t touch the ground if you had go-go gadget legs themselves. Pretending was always something she liked to do, maybe in a way it was like transporting yourself to a different world where the outside world didn’t have to bother you so much all the time. But that seemed silly even to Kristin to think about it like that, yet here she was pretending to be a butterfly emerging from her cocoon of water, only to be placed back down reassuringly on the ground once more. This time it wasn’t the water that was still completely under her controlling performing random little swirls and maneuvers through the air, but something, jumping?
No, jumping wasn’t the way to put it, it looked a lot like flying. Though it didn’t make sense for someone to just be out flying. Maybe she’d made to much of a commotion tonight as she had gotten a little carried away, and someone had seen her over the tree tops? Gently placing the water into the river and letting it revert to it’s natural ways she ducked behind a large tree, that was wide enough to shelter at least three or four behind it. The water created a nice cover for her breath as she couldn’t seem to keep quite, wondering how the hell she was going to get away. Then a thought hit her. The person was flying! Obviously no natural ability either, so maybe, just maybe it was another tainted.
Peeking out behind the tree, with her back pressed up against it at an awkward angle while she shifted her feet along the base of the tree to fully see what was going on she heard a song. No catholic herself she knew the tune well, as many times her friend’s has started to randomly sing it in dorms or brought her along to church. This was very comforting to know, and no longer did Kristin feel the slightest bit threatened by this girl. And it was a girl, she could tell by her long hair. With a change of the tides a stream of water diverted itself from the river under her feet, lifting her about ten feet of the ground and solidifying to it’s ice form as she sang “He's been there since the very start, my angel Gabriel, my angel Gabriel.” So, maybe calling it singing wouldn’t be quite precise, as she wasn’t nearly good enough for that, but it was relatively in tune, and no major squeaks or anything, so it was good enough. Laughing a little to break the silence Kristin spook, “Well hello there! Nice night for a flight is it?” she asked kidding around. With that the ice changed back to it’s water form, a little bit faster then it had used to take her I might add, and she returned to the ground looking up at the sky with the girl in it. “My name’s Kristin!” she called up, with a big smile on her face.

When Kristin started to sing back, Rosalie's eyes opened wide as she stood up quickly. She jumped up into the air, startled and ready to attempt to flee at a moment's notice. When introduced herself, Rosalie blinked confused. "Uh..." She started to say as she floated back down, stumbling as she landed "I didn't see you there..." She was really confused not knowing what to say. "I'm Rosalie," She figured introducing herself first would be smart. "What are you doing out...here?" She asked cautiously knowing she was just caught in the act of flying, though she didn't know how Kristin would perceive her as. "I...um...." She stammered. This isn't good at all...What am I going to do?! "I'm just....out for a stroll." Yeah, strolling the treetops but hey, its the truth.
She nodded sheepishly knowing what she just said was a very bad lie. An awkward lie, with half truths. She scratched the back of her head and looked around, the ground was all wet, yet the river beside didn't look like it was over flown. She looked at the river, then at Kristin, then back at the river. An thought came into her head, "Why is the ground...all...wet?" She asked, trying to seem confused still. A small half-smile started to creep on her face. She had a hunch, that this girl can do...stuff...with water. "I've never met a...water...girl...person...before" She stumbled with her words not exactly sure what to call Kristin's ability. "I've never met anyone who does exactly what I do either." She shrugged surrendering to the fact that Kristin already knew what she was. "I want to though, It's easy going up." She floated up a few inches into the air. "And down." As her feet touched back down on the ground.
She looked over at Kristin, hoping maybe this person was probably a lot nicer than the man she met outside of San, it was that man who instilled fear of speaking out on her ability anymore. She was worried, wondering, if anyone thought of her as stupid, an unholy being, a freak of nature. It kept her up at night sometimes, but she gazed deep into her eyes. There seemed to be some kindness in there, expressing that she seem to understood her feeling. Her feeling of wariness around others who were not as blessed. Who were not as gifted and special as they were. Her muscles relaxed, knowing she wouldn't have to flee for her life or anything outrageous. Though she wondered, why here, when an empty beach shore would be more effective.

Kristin tried to remember the most resent time when she’d met another like herself. Yes, some of her best friend’s had powers to. But they we’re her best friends. Not strangers she’d met in the dark by the river. And never catching them in the act. The girl, Rosalie was her name, it sounded very familiar. She had heard of it somewhere before, but it wasn’t coming to mind just yet. “Nice to meet you.” She said, her smile widening across her face. “Well, it is a lovely night for a stroll, I guess. Well, the nights are getting better, hopefully spring isn’t going to takes it’s sweet time getting here already this year.” She said, smirking, feeling comfortable. This girl seemed familiar, and not a threat to her, so why did she have any reason to be bashful at all?
Slowly Kristin brought the water that she’d spilt (as this was never an exactly spill proof talent) and returned it to the river. “Well, it was all wet.” She said laughing, hoping she didn’t freak the girl out. Kristin took her own hair and twisted it around and over her shoulder, staring into the river. It was always sort of neat to think about the water cycle, how it all gets recycled around and around so many times. This water however was very clean, not like the more polluted areas that had started becoming more and more evident around the world. The girls voice broke through her thoughts as she looked over at her again. “I wouldn’t think you have seen many water girls before. Me, I’d like to think I’m one of a kind, thought I know that’s not entirely true.” She said laughing again, if only to familiarize herself with this girl. Kristin had a feeling it would come to her, why she felt like she knew this girl, but for now she was oblivious, smacking her forehead internally to jog her memory.
“I haven’t met many air girls before either.” She said honestly, flying had to be cool. Of course Kristin could go into the air to, but only when there was a lot of water holding her up, but who wouldn’t love to water slide down? “Wow, and your not even wearing a harnest either!” she said, pretending to be amazed and shocked. Her talent was cool, it would be so convent to just be able to touch your feet off the ground and take yourself where ever you wanted to go. “I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who comes out to try off my ability either, though it kind of sucks having to hide it all the time, from everyone.” She said, blurting it out. The way she reasoned it in her mind was, if Rosalie was tainted to, then she would know how hard it was to constantly keep your ability a secret and never let anyone know. The fear all the time of being exposed and everything else added on top of that made it no fun either.
“OH! Now I remember you!” she said, her voice getting much higher as she smiled widely, feeling happy with her little accomplishment of remembering why Rosalie sounded so familiar. “Your like friend’s with Drew right? Yeah, I’m pretty sure you are! I mean, if your not that’d be totally embarrassing, Rosalie, uh, Flow, or Snow right?” she said, last names we’re harder to remember. Faces and first names we’re much more convenient.

Though Rosalie's eyes watched Kristen in awe. Water was fickle thing, in her opinion. God made it simple but an element not to underestimate. One's gift to control such an element's movement was truly a God given gift. She started to smile, but it led to a smirk with the 'harness' comment. "Yeah, I could be some circus side show huh?" She smirked commenting back.
Though her smirk suddenly turned into a blushing expression when Kristen mentioned Andrew. "I...I...I" She started to stammer but nodded. "Yeah...it's Snow.....I've know him for a while...yeah." Her eyes narrowed and she re-examined Kristin. She knew Andrew had tons of other friends, who were girls also. Though it made me feel insecure knowing he hung out with all them a lot. Kristin was really pretty.
Rosalie took a step towards the river bank and looked down at her reflection below. Though it was blurred in the water's current she knew what she saw. A plain blond haired girl. The only thing special about her that she could fly, but who really knows who else could. She shrugged looking away from her reflection and facing back to Kristin. She forced a weak smile and folded her arms across her chest. "I remember hearing things about you, but I never thought I'd meet you." She said quietly to Kristin, though her mind was lost in thought.
Bah I know it's short but I felt bad for leaving it here with no reply. xP

When Kristin had seen this girl at first she saw it like any other situation, an opportunity. You never know what kind of person you are going to come across in your day to day life. You might just be stuck in the same old same old routine day in and day out, but that doesn’t mean you can’t slap a smile on your face and hope for the best. Friend’s we’re amazing creatures, truly, they had to ability to pick you up after you’ve fallen down, or be the one to stab the knife into your back. It was always a gamble letting someone else into your own world, not knowing how it would turn out.
Kristin had an uncandid ability to be warm and open to people; she saw no need to be hostile or unfriendly. She never wanted to be the cause to someone’s pain or troubles. Only the solution. “A circus,” she chuckled softly to herself, “I don’t think I could survive a circus actually. Don’t get me wrong the acrobatics are amazing. You know the Cirque du Solae group, yeah I saw them with my dad a year or so ago, before going to University, they we’re amazing, really. But the clowns, just terrify me.” She laughed, though it was a silly fear it was truly terrifying to her to even think of.
Poor Rosalie, she seemed so, nervous, on edge almost. Kristin had a big urge to go over and give her a hug, she didn’t bite, only if she said that out loud the girl might think her a wee bit insane. Not that she wasn’t technically ‘normal’, but who wanted that anyways? “Yeah, Drew’s great, I love him to death!” she smiled, one of her sweetest smiles that she could possibly give, with her dimples showing even in the dim lighting. “Heard things about me, uh-oh. I hope they are good, I’ve done some pretty embarrassing stuff…” she trailed off, wondering what he might have said. Kristin in the corner of her eye caught the girl staring at herself in the waters reflection; she would have thought the girl vain if a gut feeling hadn’t told her otherwise. Was she intimidated? That was insane!
“He talks about you too, good stuff don’t worry.” Actually that was putting it lightly, from the way he rambled on about this girl Kristin had expected more than just a little crush, though she knew she shouldn’t say anything since this girl didn’t seem like the type to be overly confident and go boasting about her crushes. Kristin liked Drew too of course, but in a sense that it was just a little crush, since she knew he didn’t like her in that same way. The chances of her actually finding someone that did like her back, and wasn’t just a fling were very unlikely, but she was 18 time wasn’t against her just yet anyways. “So Rosalie, I have to say, I think I’m in love with your hair. Blonde is totally pretty on you!” she said, complimenting the girl.

Kristin's comments relaxed her and eased her back from her nervous state of mind. She smiled when she said Drew said things about her. She wondered what he had said, but she figured they were good since he was the sweetest boy alive. Though Rosalie distracted in her thoughts snapped back into reality when she spoke about her hair. "Oh...Wha?" She blinked gently clutching onto her hair. She turned back to face her reflection in the mirror. She had naturally wavy blond hair, she thought it was pretty and she turned back to Kristen. "Thanks." She said proudly. Her mother had the same blond hair, and she loved her to death though she was sad to leave her be all alone in her house though there was nothing she could do about it.
She walked over to a log, taking a seat on it patting the spot next to her for Kristin to sit next to her. "So why do you come out all the way here? I mean, I live out in San so I don't come here too often." She muttered, trying to find some idle conversation. Though she was curious, this is was an odd place to play with an ability to move water. She thought it was a beautiful God given gift. She could probably part a good amount of water like Moses did to find the promise land. Maybe Moses was blessed by God with that ability, as had Kristin. She smiled at that thought. She could walk over water, like Jesus could. It was a beautiful thought, knowing what some could do just like the amazing miracles in the Bible.
Though her eyes went from Kristin to the moonlight trying to struggle it's light through the tree tops. It was indeed a beautiful full moon. Where the moon pushed and pulled the ocean creating the tides and the currents. She took a deep breath, leaning back slightly but not to fall of her seat on the log. "I come here because I think it's a blessing to live so close to a beach. Some people have never seen an ocean in their lifetime, I wouldn't be able to stand knowing there was such a beautiful thing in the world and for I to have never seen it with my own eyes."
