Joanna Townley was awoken to a sound she knew very well, the screaming fight of her two young children, who didn’t quite seem to get along lately. Groaning and throwing off the covers she basically flopped out of bed laying on the ground. Before getting off the floor she sighed and turned her eyes towards her bedroom door knowing they were fighting right there. Concentrating on her powers she focused her eyes on going through the door and seeing what they were looking like. As soon as she saw her two children her jaw completely dropped down to the ground they were covered in paint. By the color on their skin she could tell it was the leftover paint she had used to paint the family room the week before, she had forgotten to put it away. Groaning once more she stood to her feet and walked to the door pulling it open and letting it hit the wall. ‘What did you two do to yourselves? I thought I told you two to stay away from the paint why didn’t you listen to mommy?” Her son Tucker pouted when she raised her voice, he didn’t like loud voices at all, Starla her daughter was already crying as she didn’t like them either.
Bending down to her children she pulled them both close to her in a hug kissing both their cheeks. “Mommy is sorry mommy didn’t mean to yell I promise I won’t yell again you guys just have to start being good, this is a hard time for mommy too.” It was then at that point Starla basically launched herself into Joanna’s arms and wouldn’t let go at all. “I sowwy mommy.” Joanna couldn’t help but let the anger disappear as she said she was sorry Starla could get anything she wanted she was a little angel. Looking to Tucker she gave him the look and asked him if he had anything to say, which he did. “I’m sorry momma we were bad.” Joanna just smiled and leaned over and kissed his cheek and hugged him. “It’s okay but just don’t play with the paint anymore let’s get you two cleaned up.” Picking up Starla and taking Tucker’s hand they together walked into the bathroom and she set Starla down and had Tucker sit down too. Starting the water she quickly undressed both of the kids, and since they were young it was okay to shower them together. It took about an hour to completely get all the paint off of her two children and by the time she did, she was completely awake herself. Drying off the kids she let Tucker go into his room to get dressed himself while she went to get Starla dressed.
About ten minutes later she had finally gotten Starla dressed in some playing clothes and Tucker came in with his playing clothes as well. “Okay kids you stay in here and play nicely while mommy showers then we will go out for a nice pancake breakfast.” Leaving the door open incase they needed to come get her she walked down the short hallway to the bathroom where she stripped down and showered. After about 15 minutes she was done with her shower and climbed out where she dried off her body and walked into her room. Decided on a pair of clothes that weren’t all that new since she was going to take them to the park afterwards. Today was one of the first days she didn’t have to work at the Daycare and she planned on spending every moment with her kids. After she was dressed she went into Starla’s room where the kids were playing and she handed them their light jackets to wear. “Come on kids let’s go we don’t wanna miss pancakes do we now?” They screamed no and were bouncing all around hyperactive as ever. Going outside she sighed as she looked at the piece of shit car she had bought, it wasn’t falling apart or anything but it wasn’t nice to look at either. Looking down at her children she sighed once more wishing she could provide better for them but she just didn’t have the money. As much as she loved working at the Daycare it wasn’t nearly enough money, and the money she had saved up before moving and the money her parents gave her was quickly disappearing.
Soon enough she had Starla strapped into the car seat, and she had put Tucker into his booster seat and set to going to the restaurant. Within ten minutes they were there at the diner and she sighed looking into her purse and saw she had a twenty in there. She was going to use that to feed her children, she would be fine without eating, she had managed to eat a sandwich yesterday. Putting a smile on her face so that her children didn’t notice anything wrong with her, she braved it and got out of the car to get her children. After she got them out she was carrying Starla and holding onto Tucker’s hand, as she walked into the restaurant. The waitress sat them down at the table and gave them some menus but Joanna just shook her head and said they were ready to order. As she smiled up at the waitress she ordered two child sized pancake breakfasts and just a coffee for herself. As she was sitting there she could smell how good the food was and her mouth watered but she just didn’t have the money. After a little while the pancakes came and Joanna helped her children cut them up and then let them go out and eat them. “Enjoy your breakfast kids, then we can go to the park.” Tucker looked up at her with a frown on his face. “Mommy why aren’t you eating.” Joanna swallowed hard, and sighed softly, Tucker was too smart for his own age. “Honey don’t you worry about me I will be fine we just have to be careful with our money, so mommy has to cut back on some things.”
