Setting: A short conversation between Odille and Masinori taking place directly after "All of the Memories" RP.
Masinori watched Izar as he crossed the front lawn towards the road, thinking it would take forever for him to walk home. As he shut the door, he was about to curse himself for not offering to walk with him, but he was startled by a familiar presence. "You're getting better." Odille then materialized from out of nowhere, leaning against the wall on the other side of the door with a long black cigarette in her hand, like she'd been there all along, and was maybe a little surprised he'd sensed it. She must’ve been watching them, camouflaged by her surroundings. He felt suddenly embarrassed and angry that she’d intruded undetected on a private moment, but shook it off, realizing his hypocrisy. “This is what people would feel like if they knew I were in their dreams.” He said, with a sort of dark glare at her, to let her know he was a little ticked. He peered out the glass part of the door to see if he could spot Izar’s shape in the distance, he couldn’t. He looked away, but took a double take. He thought he saw a bird or something.
Masinori walked past Odille, and as he did he snatched her cigarette away and placed it in his own mouth. The cloves were strong, but incredibly smooth, with a sweet spicy flavor that tobacco didn’t have. They were nice once in a while, and Odille always tried to switch his regular cigarettes for them. He crossed the entranceway and went to where his shirt lay by the fireplace. He picked it up and slipped it on, then went for his coat. It looked like a wet rat, and he frowned at it. It definitely needed a good dry cleaning. And a half, he smiled inwardly. Odille’s arms were crossed, still in the same spot, as he walked by and hung his coat on the wooden coat hanger on the other side of the door.
When he walked passed again she took her cigarette back. Masinori slapped her hands, and reached for her pocket, grabbing the pack that was there. He carefully pulled one out and stuck it in his mouth, then closed it and threw the box in the general direction of Ody’s head with a snigger. He fumbled for his own lighter in his pocket and lit it, taking a long shaky drag. He let the large cloud of smoke out slowly, and paced a little. “What are your plans for today?” He asked Odille. He wanted to get out of the house pretty badly now. It felt weird being there, and he wanted something to occupy him.
Again his thoughts overpowered him. He had kept thinking back to the young man he’d seen talking to his friend Danae all that week, in the midst of his brooding about who he was and what he was doing here. And then, he just so happened to run into him, and got stranded with him in a storm. And he was Tainted too. What were the odds? But what if he hadn’t been Tainted? Would it have mattered? He knew it wouldn’t have, he knew that Izar could’ve had two heads and he’d still feel this way, but Masinori shuddered when he thought about it. It put things into a strange perspective that he didn’t want to consider right now. “Let’s get out of here, go to the city maybe, anything.” Masinori said impassively to Odille. All those thoughts and the clove was still going strong. Those things lasted longer than daylight.
