Reyna stirred from her sleep and wondered how it was she had fallen asleep on a brick wall. Even more strange was the fact that it was a warm and comfortable…and breathing. She cracked an eye open and confirmed what her still fuzzy mind had reached as the only plausible conclusion; she was in bed with a man. And not just any man. No, it was the handsome giant with the devastating smile she had met at Nona and Zane’s wedding. And had bumped into at the club. And dios mios…how much had she drunk before this had seemed like a good idea?
It was taking a little bit of time for all her senses to align but when they did she came to a few more realizations. The first was she was naked. The second was…so was he. ‘Oh, no. No, no, no, no. You didn’t. Did you?’ But eventually she started to recall some of their escapades prior to falling asleep and she smiled into the chest she was laying on. Oh yeah. She had. Reyna resisted the urge to snuggle against the large, warm body and instead took stock of her limbs and his and how she could detangle herself without waking him. She wasn’t sure what time it was yet but she needed to get home.
She lifted her leg from on top of his and shifted it slowly away from his body, listening to the rhythmic beat of his heart for any changes and feeling the rise and fall of his chest for any increase in frequency. So far so good. Next she lifted her arm from across his chest and pulled it back, stopping when he seemed to stir but after a moment of holding her breath, she continued her movement and then smiled. She was going to be able to get out of the bed without waking him. And once she had done that, she knew without a doubt she could get out of the house without making a sound. There was a definite benefit to being intangible. She almost risked using to get out of the bed but in case he woke up, Reyna didn’t want her secret given away.
With her limbs freed from him, she only had to move off the arm that was stretched out behind her. Apparently the man slept like a starfish. ‘Not used to sharing the bed, I see.’ There was an urge to poke him but that would defeat the purpose of trying to sneak out. Besides…it wasn’t like she had any plans on seeing him again. No. This was the best way. Sneak out and just keep the memory. And pray she didn’t run into him again. This wasn’t a normal thing for her and despite the alcohol, she had begun to recall their activity and it would be much too tempting to do it again if she crossed paths with him.
Reyna slipped out of the bed and slowly stood up, stretching some seriously sore muscles with a smile and looking around the darkened room for any clue to where her clothes were. The black lace panties were flung over by a chair and she only spotted those thanks to the glow of the alarm clock telling her it was 4:10 a.m. She needed to get home, shower, and see if she could sleep an hour before Gabi got up. She slipped on the panties and looked under a blanket that must have fallen off the bed, but her dress and bra were not there. ‘Mierda.’ She couldn’t leave his house in nothing but her underwear.
That was when she remembered they hadn’t exactly been undressing in the bedroom. Reyna stood back up and quietly opened the bedroom door, grinning to find her bra right outside. She scooped it up and slipped it on, fastening the back and stepping into the hall and closing the door very quietly behind her, breathing only when she heard the light click. She hoped her dress and shoes were on the way down the stairs. And please let the memory of her coat coming off by the door be correct. Her wallet and phone were in there and she’d need both to get home.
There were only a few lights on but it was enough to spot the dress pooled on a step halfway down the stairs. She was pretty sure she saw her heels down at the base of the stairs. Oh, it had been fun. Reyna stopped and picked up his shirt and laid it over the banister so it wouldn’t wrinkle as bad and smiled at the memory of fumbling with the buttons, trying to get it off of him. No…that wasn’t her usual behavior, but it sure had been fun. Reyna picked up her dress and shook it out, clicking her tongue at the wrinkles in the silky fabric but lifting it up and sliding it over her head, shaking her hips to get the dress over them. ‘Ok, got to figure out where I am so I can call a cab.’ She looked around and for the first time realized what a beautiful house she was in. Very modern looking and nothing like the brightly colored home she had rented for her, Gabi, and Nikki.
“Not bad,” she spoke softly. She got to the bottom of the stairs and picked up her heels, spotting the large glass doors facing the sea and her mouth opened to an ‘o’ as she wandered up to the glass and looked out at the moon hanging over the water. “Damn. What a great view.”
